Woolworths & Disney Pixar

Michael Hili is quickly becoming one of Australia’s most in-demand TVC Directors, due mostly to his unique ability to bring traditional crafts and hand-made items to the usually slick world of commercial film making.

The brief here was to take the ‘cardboard’ motif of Woolworth’s collectors cards, and deliver a commercial that still held up to the tightly monitored standards of Disney & Pixar’s IP.

I worked with Michael to closely plan out the motion and camerawork of this spot so that the huge sets and large scale props could be made offsite and installed on set with minimal room for error.

The resulting video is fun and feels like just the right amount of “DIY” for a global brand.
